Heterogeneous oxidation catalysis is of enormous importance, since it is one of the key reactions in chemistry, especially in industrial chemistry. This technology reduces chemical waste, making reactions much more efficient. Today, more than ever, there is a real need for novel environmentally friendly “green” oxidants, such as oxygen, hydrogen peroxide and others.
Filling a gap in the literature, this long-awaited and comprehensive reference presents all important catalyst classes, including metal oxides, polyoxometalates, and zeolites. Readers will find here everything they need to know — from structure design to characterization, and from immobilization to industrial processes.
From the contents:
* Concepts in Selective Oxidation of Small Alkane Molecules
* Active Ensemble Structures for Selective Oxidation Catalyses at Surfaces
* Unique Catalytic Performance of Supported Gold Nanoparticles in Oxidation
* Metal-Substituted Zeolites as Heterogeneous Oxidation Catalysts
* Design of Well-Defined Active Sites on Crystalline Materials for Liquid-Phase Oxidations
* Liquid-Phase Oxidations with Hydrogen Peroxide and Molecular Oxygen Catalyzed by Polyoxometalate-Based Compounds
* Nitrous Oxide as an Oxygen Donor in Oxidation Chemistry and Catalysis
* Direct Synthesis of Hydrogen Peroxide: Recent Adcances
* Recent Achievements and Challenges for a Greener Chemical Industry
A true must-have for anyone working in this key technology, whether in academia or industry.
Noritaka Mizuno received his Ph. D. in 1985 at the University of Tokyo. In 1989 he did a postdoctoral work with Professor Richard G. Finke at University of Oregon and returned to Japan as an Associate Professor at Catalysis Research Center, Hokkaido University (1990). Afterwards, he moved to the Institute of Industrial Science, the University of Tokyo, and then to the Department of Applied Chemistry of the same university, where he has been a full Professor since 2001. Professor Mizuno has authored over 200 scientific publications.
